How do you do electrical, plumbing, and HVAC?"

Accepted Answer

Every project is different but typically we connect to the electrical service from the existing home, connect to the water lines and drain line in the existing home, and install an independent HVAC system with its own thermostat.

Zoning Ordinances, building permits and covenants, how does it work?"

Accepted Answer

• In regards to building permits, our modular design is pre-approved by the state of Wisconsin to meet building code.

• In regards to zoning our additions are categorized as a permanent addition, no special exceptions and we simply need to meet setbacks, impervious surface and the other typical constraints.  If you are interested in a detached living space, zoning becomes more complicated and needs to be reviewed on a case by case basis. Can I customize my Linked Living™ home addition?

Yes, all of our projects are custom designed.  Because each property is different, with different setbacks, entry points, desired views, etc… We custom design each project in house.  You can think of us as a custom home builder that specializes in these smaller living spaces for family members.

Is there any way that I can cut costs on my Linked Living™ home addition?

Yes, there are a couple different ways to minimize costs. One way is by choosing affordable materials and design options during the design and estimating processes. Another way is you take on some of the work yourself.  We offer DIY builds as well as turnkey builds.

Does it connect to the existing house or is it completely disconnected?

Linked Living™ home additions can be built as connected additions and also as detached units although zoning may restrict options for certain properties.  Contact us to find out what’s allowed on your property.

What is the normal payment plan for a Linked Living™ home addition?

• Linked Living™ home additions can be paid in any way you like.  We accept all standard forms of payment but do require that proof of funds before we begin our work.  Contact us if you would like to work with a lender that is already familiar with our product.

I like the idea of moving my parents into my home but am not sure that I can provide them with the medical assistance they need, what do you recommend?"

Accepted Answer

In many cases, paid in-home care can provide all of the professional treatment needed.  In home nurses can enter the Linked Living™ home addition through a private entrance and provide treatment.

How big is the Linked Living™ home addition?

Accepted Answer

Linked Living™ home additions can be built any size but typically are between 140SF to 1000SF.

I think our backyard is too small, will it fit and be allowed?"

Accepted Answer

Different cities and municipalities have different requirements.  However, we have found that most often they do fit.  Many individuals have been surprised that Linked Living™ home additions fit and are allowed in their seemingly smaller backyard.  If you’re concerned about your own lot, contact us.  We’ll do the math and let you know.

What type of foundation do you use?

Linked Living can use whatever type of foundation is best suited for your project.  Common options include helical piers, traditional concrete frost walls, concrete piers, and shallow frost protected concrete foundations.

Question 11

Can the addition be remodeled back to original condition if the addition is removed?

Accepted Answer

Yes, under normal conditions this can be done.  We consider this an essential part of the removability aspect of Linked Living Homes.

Question 12

Does a Linked Living Home come with a kitchen?

Accepted Answer

There are options with kitchens, kitchenettes, and also no kitchen at all.  It all depends on what you want and if you plan to share the kitchen in the existing house.

How is it heated?

Accepted Answer

There are different options available for heating and cooling. Options include but are not limited to split mini heat pumps, gas fireplace, electric heat, & AC units.  Contact us to learn more about the pros and cons of each option.

How long does the project take?
